Spa Etiquette

What is worn during the service?

Most massage and bodywork techniques are traditionally performed with the client unclothed, while skincare services and performed clothed or wearing a gown/robe; however, it is entirely up to you what you want to wear. You should undress to your level of comfort. You will be properly draped during the entire session, only the areas being worked on will be exposed.

Will the therapist be present when I disrobe?

The therapist will exit the room while you undress. Relax onto the table, and cover yourself with a clean sheet or towel. The therapist will then re-enter the room.

Is it okay to ask for adjustments to the pressure?

You should communicate immediately, to the therapist, if you sense any discomfort so that the pressure can be adjusted accordingly. Massage, skin treatments and bodywork are most effective when your body is not resisting. If you would like your pressure increased, please let your therapist know that as well. We tailor the pressure to meet your needs and ensure maximum results.

What should I do during the session?

Prior to the treatment, feel free to ask the therapist any questions about the technique or the upcoming session. During the session, make yourself comfortable. The therapist will either gently adjust your body position or tell you what is needed throughout the session. Just relax, close your eyes, and dont forget to communicate the level of pressure desired, whether a blanket is needed, or anything other needs you may have.

What should I expect after the session?

Most people feel very relaxed and refreshed. Massage and bodywork clients experience freedom from long-term aches and pains developed from tension or repetitive activity, while skincare clients experience clean, refreshed skin with a more healthy and youthful appearance. After an initial period of feeling slowed down, people often experience increased energy, heightened awareness, and greater productivity which can last for days. It is recommended you drink plenty of water following your treatment.

Are there any medical conditions that would make massage, bodywork or skin treatments inadvisable?

Yes. That's why it's imperative that, before you begin your session, the therapist asks general health questions. It is very important that you inform the therapist of any medications you are taking, and any medical conditions including pregnancy, diabetes, hypertension, allergies, disabilities, injuries, infections, skin conditions, surgeries or illness. If you are under a doctor's care, it is strongly advised that you receive a written recommendation for massage, bodywork or skin treatments prior to any session. Depending on the condition, approval from your doctor may be required.
